Single-Head/Single-Track Detection in Interfering Tracks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Off-track interference (OTI) arises as a result of head misalignment and is likely to become the dominant source of errors in future magnetic storage systems with high track density. In this paper, using a two-track and single-head model for OTI, we compare two different equalization/detection techniques aiming at recovering data from only the main track. One is a conventional approach based on suppressing OTI by a linear equalizer and then performing partial response maximum-likelihood (PRML) detection of the main track data. The other views OTI as the response of the channel to an independent data sequence, simultaneously estimates the two data sequences by joint PRML detection, and then simply discards the adjacent track data at the end. We evaluate the detection performance in terms of effective detection signal-tonoise ratio, and provide bit-error-rate simulation results. We also discuss a technique to adaptively estimate the position of the head as well as compensate for the relative phase difference in the offtrack data.

Estimating catches with automatic identification system (AIS) data: a case study of single otter trawl in Zhoushan fishing ground, China
The sailing tracks of single otter trawl vessels were simulated using cubic hermite spline (cHs) interpolation method based on the automatic identification system (AIS) data of 6 sampled vessels that were fishing in the Zhoushan fishing grounds after the close of the fishing season from September 2012 to January 2013. The vessels’ status (i.e. whether the vessels were fishing or not) were dete...
متن کاملUsing a probabilistic hypothesis density filter to confirm tracks in a multi- target environment
In this paper, we aim to perform scalable multi-target particle filter tracking. Previously, the authors presented an approach to track initiation and deletion which maintains an existence probability on each track, including a “search track” which represents the existence probability and state distribution of an unconfirmed track. This approach was seen to perform well even in cases of low det...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Influences of Track Superstructure Parameters on Ballasted Railway Track Design
The main design criteria of ballasted railway tracks include rail deflections, rail bending stresses, rail wheel contact stresses, sleeper bending moments and ballast sleeper contact pressures. Numerous criteria have been defined for the design of ballasted railway tracks owing to the various mechanical properties of track components and their complex interaction. Therefore, railway track desig...
متن کاملAcceleration-Based Quality Assessment of Railway Tracks using a 2D simulation model and recorded track data
Car body acceleration is an important factor affecting track safety and ride comfort, which are two primary aspects of railway systems. Though track level is an important source of wagon body acceleration, no quantitative relation between them is available and the aim of this paper is to propose a method to address this issue. To do so, car body acceleration is determined using a 10 DOF simulat...
متن کاملMultihead Detection for Multitrack Recording Channels
We look at multiple-track detection for magnetic recording systems that use array heads to write and read over multiple tracks simultaneously. The recording channel is modeled as having intersymbol interference (ISI) in the axial direction, and intertrack interference (ITI) in the radial direction. Optimum multihead and single-head detectors are derived and analyzed in terms of error-probabilit...
